Police in Blue Springs are investigating what they believe to be a triple-murder-suicide after the bodies of two children and two adults were found in a home in the Kansas City suburb.
Police reported dead 22-year old Lindsey Money, her children Jazmine, four and Shenayah, two, as well as the body of an as yet unnamed 23-year old man.Officers at the scene have said that a handgun was recovered from the house close to one of the dead, but at this time they were unable to confirm whether the man or woman was the aggressor.
Victims: The bodies of two adults and two girls,
Shenayah, 2, (left) and Jazmine, 4, were found Friday in a suburban
Kansas City home in a possible triple homicide and suicide
Mother: Relatives identified the girl's mother,
among the victims, as Lindsey Money, 22, who had been living with her
23-year-old boyfriend and father of her youngest girl
The tragic incident occurred at 1200 block of Northwest Cheshire Place and neighbour Dillon Sparks told the Kansas City Star that he was startled at approximately 1 p.m by a scream coming from outside his house.
'I just heard someone screaming really loud,' said Sparks which made him run outside of his home to find Money's grief stricken mother sitting on the curb.
'She kept saying, 'They're dead, they're dead.'
'We believe the person responsible is dead,' Fanara said, declining to elaborate about who was believed to have pulled the trigger.
Horror: Neighbours were notified of the killing
after Ms Money's mother was heard screaming outside after finding the
bodies when she hadn't heard from her daughter and became concerned
Shooting: The two girls were found shot on the lower level of the home with the two adults found upstairs
KMBC initially reported that Money appeared to have been the sole fatality who was not shot.
Investigators were trying to confirm the nature of the man and woman's relationship while a relative told the Star he was her boyfriend of several years.
A Facebook page belonging to the girl's grandmother identified the two girls as 4-year-old Jazmine and 2-year-old Shenayah.
It was at approximately 12.30pm when Lindsey Money's mother and brother traveled to the house and discovered the bodies.
No suspicion: Neighbours outside this duplex
said the young couple had only recently moved in and seemed normal, with
the two girls occasionally seen playing outside
With the gap in the timeline, police say they're uncertain when the shooting exactly occurred.
Court records obtained by the Star report Money and her unnamed boyfriend struggling in recent years financially.
A classmate of Money's boyfriend told the Star he met with him just three weeks ago and said things were getting better for the couple who went to high school and had been dating since 2007.
On his Facebook wall last year he wrote, according to the Star, that he had been frustrated with a temporary job at an agency.
Hardships: Police reported having never received
calls from them before but court records reported the couple having had
financial difficulty recently
Margaret Money, Lindsey Money's grandmother who resides in Florida, described her granddaughter as 'an absolute sweetheart and a wonderful mother' to the Star.
