Zoe Saldana Reveals Her Decade-Long Dream of Having Children and Gets Candid About Plastic Surgery

Since she was in her early twenties, Zoe Saldana has felt a strong maternal urge, but life has had other plans for the "Avatar" star. During a very candid interview on "The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet," the 33-year-old actress revealed that she was ready to have children with her ex-fiance, Keith Britton, soon after they embarked on their 11-year relationship. The one problem? He wasn't.

"I'm Latin—we start young, honey. At 22, you're like: 'I have an itch to hold something. I just want to have a little critter,'" she said on the Lifetime chat show, which is produced by Demi Moore. "I was dating my partner and you want to be respectful, you want to be mindful. He wasn't ready. For years he wasn't ready. Then when he got ready, I didn't have time."
Saldana said that respecting his decision was difficult, but the right thing to do. "I remember saying: 'That was very mature of me.' I chose to wait and I'm glad I did. I'm glad I respected him. Part of being equal is being really equal in every sense of the word. It's not just equal in that you treat me equal for me — it's equal for them. [Men] are extraordinary creatures and sometimes we deprive them of their own battles. They are entitled to having their daddy issues. They were exposed to a certain life growing up. They have their own nightmares. Women, we have the power of the word, and we can make or break a man with just a sentence. To abuse that power makes you just as crippled as men who abuse women."
Saldana and Britton, an entrepreneur, ultimately ended their relationship last fall and soon after she was briefly linked to actor Bradley Cooper. She didn't indicate whether or not she's seeing someone new, but when she does find Mr. Right, she has plans for a big family. How many exactly? "Two or three or four or five — I don't care," she replied. "They're just so delicious. I love the anxiety and the pressure of a loud room full of yapping kids. I'm like a kid myself so I get along very well with animals and children. I dig them. I get them. A child makes perfect sense to me. [To me], a child speaks more sense than an adult."
Once she has her two or three or four or five, Saldana says she'd consider plastic surgery to get her body back. "I would," she said frankly. "The same way an old man who is having a midlife crisis can buy a Porsche and dates a 17 year old, I can buy a pair [of new breasts] and be the sexiest soccer mom you've ever seen. Why not? I am okay with people trying to do whatever it is they need to do to feel better." And she's down with women flaunting what they have. "It doesn't matter how flat or how big or saggy or crooked or whatever, just be proud of them and just show them. Go up and down the stairs without a bra and just let them hang. I think it's so sexy and empowering."
