PIERRE-PAUL THOMAS,68 BORN BLIND SEES FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER OPERATION

When Pierre-Paul Thomas was born blind 68 years ago, there was nothing medical science could do for him. Two years ago, the Montreal man fell down a flight of stairs, fracturing facial bones, including those around his eye sockets. During the recuperation process at Montreal General Hospital, plastic surgeon Lucie Lessard asked a casual question: “Do you want us to fix your eyes, too?” Two simple cataract removal operations later, Thomas could see. Though he’s still adjusting to changing his fingertip sense memory to visuals, Thomas is thrilled to be in an amazing new world. “It’s like I’m a child all over again,” he said.

Her sister Nicole, aged ten, was born with the same illness and is now healthy and well after a kidney and liver transplant. Now Lola is in line for the same operation.

ALL ABOUT STRETCH MARKS

Stretch marks are quite frustrating. They can appear anywhere on your body and unfortunately, cannot always be covered up with clothes and most creams and topical treatments do not fulfill what they promise. So what are these little road maps that are on many of our bodies and what can be done about them?
Stretch marks, also known as striae, are most commonly found on the upper arms, thighs, buttocks, breasts, and abdomen and are normally pink, reddish, purple, or white in color. Though stretch marks are normally thought to appear on pregnant women (when their tummies grow larger, stretching their skin in addition to their hormones changing), anyone can get stretch marks and many factors can depend on this.  They are caused by a literal stretching of the skin combined with an increase in cortisone, which is a hormone formed by the adrenal glands. According to the Mayo Clinic, “cortisone may weaken elastic fibers in the skin,” hence causing stretch marks to appear.

Top 5 Best Acne Remedies to Help You Get Rid of Acne

We know you’ve come to Acne Skin Site to find quick acne remedies. We have plenty of information available to help you regarding what types of acne there are, how to treat it, and how to avoid it. If you’re browsing quickly, we’ve conveniently listed what we’ve found to be the 5 best ways to get rid of acne. These are treatments that you can use in the comfort of your own home without having to fill out expensive prescriptions.
Here they are, the five best home acne treatments in no particular order. Find out which ones work for you:
1.   Toothpaste

This classic treatment is probably one of the most famous acne remedies that you can try. This is for two reasons. First, it works. Second, it’s inexpensive and you can do it in less than 5 minutes.  For years, people have been spot treating with toothpaste to help get rid of acne. There are some things to remember though when you decide to treat your acne with toothpaste. Toothpaste is most effective when spot treating. This means, it should be used on isolated pimples. If you get a big, painful pimple on an irregular basis, you can apply a tiny bit of toothpaste to it to assist in the drying out process.
If you suffer from more severe acne, applying a large amount of toothpaste over a wide area is not recommended. The active ingredient in toothpaste that helps combat your acne is sulfur. This is what causes the drying out of acne, particularly whiteheads. Applying it to large sections of your face can cause redness and a possible burning sensation. Use toothpaste sparingly.
Also, make sure to use standard toothpaste. Brands that advertise things like “Tartar Control” or “Whitening” contain additional ingredients that can have undesired effects, such as a more pronounced burning sensation.
Apply less than a pea sized bit of toothpaste to an individual pimple and see results by the next day.

My husband had an affair while I battled cancer and i was punished for it

Sitting on a steel bench in a cell, my bandaged right hand throbbing in pain, I am listening to the charges being read out against me and wondering how on earth my life has spiralled so out of control.
I’m a respectable 50-year-old mother-of-two. I’m so law-abiding, I don’t even cross the road until the little green man tells me to. I’ve got a good job, a family and responsibilities. Right now, I should be sitting in Winchester Cathedral listening to my daughter playing clarinet in her school Christmas carol concert.
Instead, I have just spent three hours in the Accident and Emergency department of my local hospital having my hand stitched up.
