Is Diddy to wed? Engagement rumours intensify as girlfriend Cassie tweets photo of herself wearing diamond ring

He is known as one of the music industry's most notorious players, but it appears Sean 'Diddy' Combs may finally be ready to settle down.

For months now, rumours have been swirling that the 42-year-old music mogul has proposed to his girlfriend, Me & U singer Cassie Ventura.

Now the chatter has intensified after the brunette beauty, 25, tweeted a picture of her freshly manicured hands on Thursday, adorned with a large sparkler on her ring finger.

However, she didn't mention the ring and only wrote: 'Fresh nails!!'

Cassie was seen wearing the same sparkler as she enjoyed a holiday in Capri, Italy on August 14 with the rapper-turned-actor.

As the couple soaked up the sun on a yacht, Cassie wrapped an arm around Diddy, putting the large ring on display.

While the two have never publicly confirmed that they are an item, they've been linked for more than two years and are frequently photographed together.

Combs, who has never been married, has previously dated a string of beauties including Jennifer Lopez, former model Kimberly Porter, and he has been linked to Cameron Diaz.

Diddy is also biological father of five children and the informal stepfather of another Porter's oldest son.

In 2010, during a very uncomfortable interview on The View, Barbara Walters asked the rapper why he had never married any of the mother's of his children.

'That's a lot of kids... What's the trouble is what I'm trying to get at', Walters probed.

Clearly caught off guard, Diddy danced around the issue, first admitting he isn't ready for marriage, then blaming the fact that he 'grew up without a father.'
