Police arrest three, recover grenades, N2m in Delta



Police in Delta State on Tuesday said they had arrested three of the 30-man gang that killed  six policemen, including a Divisional Police Officer, a soldier and a civilian in the state on Monday.
The police also said they recovered over N2m, 94 loaded magazines of AK47 riffles, three bulletproof vests, one rocket launcher, one rocket propelled grenade and five AK 47 riffles.
Also recovered from the gang were one 9mm Zastave pistol, 11 rounds of ammunition, 3,550 rounds of another 7.62 mm ammunition, one Toyota Hummer bus marked Lagos YB 58 MUS, two HP CPU, one network PUR and assorted charms.


A Toyota Hiace bus marked XC 412 AGB and one green Lincoln Navigator jeep with registration number HJ 770 ABS were also recovered by the police.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, confirmed the development.
He said the DPO of Abraka, Steve Chigbufue, and three of his men were killed by the hoodlums while on their way to Asaba.
He added that another officer from Ibusa division died in an ensuing gun battle between the security operatives and armed robbers during the operation.
The CP named the arrested suspects as Odili  Wilson (35), Ojade Sunday (26), and Princely Oba (32).
Aduba said,  “Police trailed a band of robbers/kidnappers operating with unconventional weapons, including general purpose rifles, rocket launchers and assault rifles.
