With the crème de la crème of the celebrity world expected to make appearances at this year's Cannes Film Festival, the pressure is on to stand out from the crowd.
So it's no wonder that Eva Longoria chose a stunning gown with a long train for the screening of Moonrise Kingdom by Wes Anderson last night.
However, Eva was perhaps a little too concerned about making an impact to worry about how she would manage in the gown on the red carpet.
The perils of looking glamorous: Eva Longoria
wowed in a Marchesa gown on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival
last night, but the long train of the dress proved problematic
The Desperate Housewives star was seen attempting to swing the silver dress, which featured a long train made of tulle, around her as she angled herself into the best positions for the waiting photographers.
And while she had an assistant on hand to help her at points during the photocall, Eva also had to rely solely on her own talents to ensure she didn't trip over the beautiful Marchesa gown.
Careful! While Eva had an assistant on hand to help her at points with the dress, she also had to manage it herself
Standing out from the crowd: Eva certainly caused a stir in the beautiful dress
The main body of her dress featured intricate silver and diamante details, and a transparent cutaway section on the back.
After making her way inside into the movie premiere, Eva wrote on Twitter: 'Just climbed the mythical Red Stairs of Cannes.Such a huge emotion, and what a fantastic Electric look!'
Caught the cameras' attention: Eva wore a
stunning pale pink mermaid-style gown, fitted down to the knee when it
flared into a long feathered train
What a poser: Eva knew exactly how to best present herself in front of the photographers
Kruger wore a gorgeous mint dress gathered into a corset, with a long cape-like swathe of translucent material falling from her left shoulder.
Is the train too long? Eva tweeted this picture of herself before making her way onto the red carpet
Centre of attention: Eva swished the dress around as the waiting photographers angled to get the best shot
Eva's full layered skirt added to the general voluminous effect, which Diane balanced by wearing her hair in a chic high bun.
The actress kept her make-up subtle and classic, and stuck to simple but lovely accessories, with silver and diamond earrings and a matching bracelet.
Competition: But Eva had some competition in the high-impact stakes from Diane Kruger, who wowed in a mint green number
Looking mint: The actress looked ethereal in the beautiful, floaty gown
Old Hollywood glamour: Diane's gorgeous mint
dress gathered into a corset, with a long cape-like swathe of
translucent material falling from her left shoulder
Members of the jury: Diane posed with
Emmanuelle Devos, Ewan Mc Gregor, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Hiam Abbass,
Italian director and president of the jury Nanni Moretti, Haitian
director Raoul Peck, British director Andrea Arnold and Alexander Payne
Eva carried a glamorous silver and diamond clutch, but kept her jewelry simple, wearing only diamond earrings. Like Diane Eva wore her hair up, but chose a slightly looser high knot, with a side firnge swept across her face.
Belle of the ball: Eva Longoria slipped into a different outfit, a dress by Alberta Ferretti, as she attended the opening dinner
The
Desperate Housewives star kept the focus of her make-up on her eyes,
with dark shadow and lashings of mascara, tempered with pearly pink
lipstick.

The actress, one of the stars of hit film The Help, was decked out in gems by Louis Vuitton.
Right behind her was Freida Pinto star of the Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire. She was helped up the steep red-carpet steps at the Palais de Fesitival by a friend.
She had a delicate balancing act to perform as she walked in chunky high heels wearing a strapless gown split to her thigh in the spirit of Angelina Jolie.

Unusual choice:
Freida Pinto chose a multi-coloured strapless corset teamed with a
gathered pale pink skirt with a daring slit up to the thigh
Strike a pose: Freida was seen turning her head to the side and working her best angle in front of the cameras
That dress was so last hour! Freida changes for the evening meal into a black swan gown
The
delicate act of walking the steps was to ensure that Miss Pinto's
decolletage did not , as one onlooker remarked, 'reveal themselves'.Screen legend Jane Fonda who was also gowned up for maximum exposure. The Oscar - winning actress was attending the Cannes opening night film Moonrise Kingdom with stars Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton and Bill Murray.
Turned up: Vahina Giocante, Sarah Marshall and Jane Fonda were all stunning in full-length gowns
Stylish
entrance: Jean-Claude Jitrois was accompanied by French model Sarah
Marshall, while Chris Pine escorted a lovely female guest
Beautiful detail: Chinese actress and singer Fan
Bingbing wore a fabulous white dress covered in intricate pictures and
patterns
Observers wondered about the choice as it made the actress bare her arms and shoulder and she looked strikingly thin.
'I hope she eats something at the dinner, she shouldn't be that thin', one onlooker commented.
On the red
carpet: Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Thomas made for a well-matched couple,
while Bruce Willis and Edward Norton were cool in tuxes
Room for a little one? Jane Fonda posed alongside Alec and Hilaria for one friendly-looking group shot
True romantic: Alec carried his fiancée Hilaria up the stairs so that she wouldn't trip on her dress
Dramatic in black: Marie Gillain and Angela Ismailos both chose gothic-style ensembles
