THE deteriorating security situation in Niger State
assumed a strange twist when a two-year-old girl was beheaded by persons
suspected to be ritual killers in Kafin Tela/Tunga area of Minna, the
Niger State capital.
It was gathered that the victim, Ummul-khairu Mohammad, was beheaded in an uncompleted building near the home of the parents after being kidnapped while playing with another child at about 10am on Sunday.
The mother, Fati Mohammed, 22, who was full of tears told The Guardian that Ummul-Khairu was her first child and that the unfortunate incident occurred while she was away for Islamic lessons.
She said she always took the girl whenever she went to the Islamic school but could not on the fateful day because the girl soiled her clothes.
She said that shortly afterwards, a woman in the neighborhood informed her of the killing. And it was at that moment she discovered that the victim was her daughter.
Contacted on phone, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Richard Oguche, confirmed the incident, saying the police have swung into action with the aim of apprehending the perpetrators of the crime.
