The Oscar-winning actress – who will be 40 in a couple of weeks – beat a string of younger stars and celebrities to the title, including the Duchess of Cambridge.
The secret of the mother of two’s success, according to her stylist, is that old maxim that less is more.

Elizabeth Saltzman said the wife of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin was not a slave to trends. ‘She doesn’t do fringe,’ she said. ‘She has a uniform. It’s simple, not overdone.’
Just behind Miss Paltrow in People magazine’s annual list of sartorial stars was the Duchess.
Further down the top ten were Hollywood actresses Emma Stone, 23, and Jessica Alba, 31, pop star Rihanna, 24, and Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr, 29.

‘Whether in an ivory long-sleeve Roland Mouret gown (with glittery Jimmy Choos peeking out) or a red pleated Alexander McQueen design, the Duchess continues to pick glamorous and chic pieces that still befit a future queen,’ said People.
The American celebrity magazine said the list was compiled after soliciting input from its 42million readers, its editors and fashion bloggers.
Among men, honours went to actors Andrew Garfield, Brad Pitt, Colin Firth, Robert Pattinson, Chris and Liam Hemsworth and singer Jay-Z.
