Ibori transferred to maximum security prison

The convicted former governor of Delta State, James Ibori has been transferred to a maximum-security prison, Long Lartin Prison in South Littleton, Worcestershire.
UK prison officials confirmed the transfer, but they would not say what motivated the move.
Long Lartin Prison is a maximum security prison for sentenced Category A adult males (though the prison does hold some sentenced Category B inmates), with all inmates serving a minimum sentence of four years. In addition the prison holds Category A remand prisoners awaiting trial.
In April this year, Mr. Ibori was sentenced to 13 years in prison for using UK financial institutions to launder hundreds of millions of pound sterling he stole from public funds in Delta State as a governor for 8 years.
The stolen funds enabled Mr. Ibori, his family and mistress to lived larger lifestyles that included purchase of private jets, luxurious cars and to own posh homes as well as apartments in some of the swanky areas in London.
The former governor is expected to serve at least seven years in the UK since he received credit for his detention in the United Arab Emirates as well as the UK prior to his trial.
