Horror as boy, 8, accidentally KILLS 11-year-old brother while playing with neighbour's gun

An 8-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his 11-year-old brother while the two were playing with a gun in a wooded area in rural Maryland, police said.
Officers responded to a 911 call at around 7am on Saturday that came from the siblings’ grandmother, who said her older grandson, Michael Alexander Szoke, had just been shot.

First responders who rushed to the scene on Old Pylesville Road in Pylesville, Maryland, administered first aid to the child who was shot in the head, but it was too late.

Szoke died en route to the medevac helicopter that was going to transport to him to Johns Hopkins Pediatric Center, ABC 2 News has reported.

Investigators said they were initially told by the victim's 8-year-old brother that he heard a shot in the woods and saw his brother collapse after being hit.

Police teams accompanied by a K-9 unit spent three hours searching the area for a stranger who could have fired the shot. However, at around 10am, they located a handgun hidden in the brush and determined that it had been an accident.

The boys apparently had been helping an elderly neighbor with yard work when they came across a handgun stored in a secure location, which they took with them.

The 8-year-old boy, whose name is not being released, has been living with his 4-year-old sister, Rosie, and their grandparents, according to ABC 2 News.
His brother was living with their other set of grandparents nearby. The children’s parents are both currently in prison.
