The French Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Jacques Champagne de Labriolle, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the move was a positive one for the relations between both countries.
Air France currently operates daily flights from Lagos to Paris, a frequency which would not be affected by the newly-introduced Abuja flights, de Labriolle said.
According to him, the Abuja-Paris flights will boost tourism and economic cooperation between the two nations.
In his comments, the Director-General, Nigerian Tourism Development Agency (NTDC), Chief Olusegun Runsewe, said the newly introduced Abuja-Paris route would increase the more than 100 flights in and out of the country weekly.
Runsewe said both nations were tourism destinations and easy flight connections would encourage more travellers. Other international airlines with flights from Abuja include British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM, Ethiopia Airways, Egypt Air and Delta Airlines. (NAN)
